"Flint Knapped Obsidian Sculpture"

Item 3M $150.00
This are two really nice knives and together form one very unique piece. This piece brought out my artistic side. I had
in mind something like a cow and calf whale swimming side by side with the mother protecting her baby. This piece seems
so alive. My son suggested "Mother and Daughter" as the title. Maybe I might make a name plate but not now. I will sign
and date the bottom of the base.
Both blades have been knapped out of the same
ribbon obsidian. The larger knife is 12 inches measured straight from the blade tip to the bottom tine and its handle is a
black tail deer antler fork. The smaller knife is 6 1/2 inches and the handle is a black tail deer antler tine. The base is
oak that has been stained, routered, and finished and is 9 3/4 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide.
Working with wood is not my strong point but this base turned
out really nice. The larger knife has been attached to the base with a wood screw that is totally hidden. The smaller knife
is attached to the larger with two small wires. These are pretty well hidden. Obviously, this piece is for sitting on a mantle
or in a glass case but the screw and the wires might loosen a bit in shipping. The screw is easily tightened and the knives
can easily be pushed back together if that should happen.
This is a such beautiful and unique piece for the flint
knapping collection or to resell at a pow wow or rendezvous. The blades has been hafted to the antler
handle with resins and artificial sinews. Remember that shipping is included in this price.
